Launch of the “100 Global Citizens” Project in Irbid, Jordan
Youth for Peace recently launched the “100 Global Citizens” project in Irbid, bringing together 40 Syrian and Jordanian youth. Participants explored Global Citizenship Education, the Sustainable Development Goals, and intercultural leadership through interactive workshops. This project empowers youth to become changemakers and peacebuilders, fostering dialogue, trust, and collaboration between communities.
We are proud to complete the first cohort of “The 100 Global Citizens” project in #Irbid, #Jordan with an incredible group of 25 #Syrian and #Jordanian youth who came together to learn, dialogue, and lead.
Over the past weeks, participants explored Global Citizenship Education #GCED, the Sustainable Development Goals, peacebuilding, and intercultural leadership, engaging in meaningful dialogue, collaborative learning, and hands-on reflection. The project created a safe space where diversity became a source of strength, trust, and shared purpose.
Throughout the journey, participants developed a deeper understanding of their role as active global citizens, strengthened their leadership skills, and began designing ideas and initiatives to create positive change in their communities locally and beyond.
This experience reaffirmed our belief that when refugee and host community youth learn together, they don’t just exchange knowledge, they build bridges, challenge stereotypes, and shape a more cohesive and peaceful future.
Huge appreciation to our participants, trainers, partners, and everyone who supported this journey.

From learning to action. From dialogue to peace 🕊️
Over the past month in #Irbid 🇯🇴 The 100 Global Citizens project brought together Jordanian and Syrian youth in a shared space of learning, dialogue, and collaboration 🤝
Through interactive workshops on Global Citizenship, Peacebuilding, Leadership, and the Sustainable Development Goals, young people didn’t just gain knowledge, they built understanding, trust, and a sense of shared responsibility toward their communities and the world.
✨ Impact we’re proud of:
- Youth from different backgrounds learned with and from each other
- Stereotypes were replaced with empathy and mutual respect
- Participants gained the confidence to see themselves as changemakers and peacebuilders
- Mixed teams designed youth-led initiatives addressing local and global challenges
This project proved that when young people are given the space, tools, and trust, they choose peace over division and collaboration over difference.
🌱 The journey doesn’t end here, it continues through the growing Youth for Peace network and the actions these young leaders will take in their communities.
This project is implemented within the UNESCO Youth for Peace: Intercultural Leadership Programme 2025, and generously supported by KINGOLD Group.
From Irbid 🇯🇴 to the world 🌍, Youth for Peace 🕊️ Global Citizenship in Action 🚀
Many thanks to our local, global partners and supporters ♥️ Kofi
